So what started out as a freebie has introduced me to a full series of books by this writer that I intend to read. Mental popcorn. I do wish there was more about the different cultures, histories, or philosophies surrounding the different human adaptations, but the descriptions about the different humans seem a bit one dimensional.I didn’t find the premise of the story to be unique, though the book was enjoyable once I was able to adjust to the change in writing style and and protagonist. An excellent read, pacey, full of twists, turns and cliff hangers.

It definitely focuses more on action rather than character development, but its fast pace wouldn't really suit anything else. It was imaginative and believable, with an original storyline and interesting Earth history.

The writing flows easily giving the story a good pace. I'm hooked enough to want to buy the next one. A good holiday read. The Germans responded by laying an effective smoke screen. Do read!! Even the name Zye is unique. A different storyline but interesting all the same. It's got a couple of nice twist in it to keep you guessing. Nice book. I have purchased the other two and can't wait to get stuck into them. Not a great book but a good read.

Battle Cruiser is the first book of the Lost Colonies trilogy written by B. V. Larson. An interesting story line that keeps you turning the pages. I'm really looking forward to the next part. The story is fast paced and keeps you interested.

These stories may not leave you with the same sense of wonder that a movie like
I have now gone back and bought Book One so that I can read how Star Force began.

Somewhat surprised by the narrative to be in first person - it makes the main character constantly commenting on his actions, which is a bit odd, however you get used to it.

Worse, there are other beings undreamed of beyond the human frontier: strange, unfathomable...alien. I reasonably enjoyed this but there was quite a lot of padding that was probably not necessary, and it took a while to really get into the story - before concluding somewhat abruptly.
